| Processor | : | Intel Xeon 7500/6500 Series |
| Memory Installed | : | No data for Standard/Base Memory. |
| Max. Memory | : | 512GB |
| Expansion | : | 32 Sockets (8 Banks of 4) using four CPUs |
| Type | : | Server |
| Configuration Notes | : | * Xeon 7500/6500 series processors support low density 2Gbit DRAM ONLY. * Xeon E7 series processors support currently available high density 4Gbit DRAM. Xeon E7 is socket compatible (LGA1567) with older Xeon 7500/6500 processors. Check with OEM to replace older servers with Xeon E7 processors to support current memory technology. Updated BIOS or additional hardware may be required. * DIMMs A1-A8 are assigned to CPU 1, DIMMs B1-B8 are assigned to CPU 2, DIMMs C1-C8 are CPU 3, DIMMs D1-D8 are CPU 4. Each processor must have identical memory configurations. * Intel Xeon 7500 and 6500 Series processors support a maximum memory performance of 1066MHz. * Only RDIMMS are supported with Intel 7500 and 6500 series processors. * Mixed DIMM capacity is supported however, the recommendation is to populate memory controllers equally and always pair DIMMs identically. * Quad-Rank DIMMs mixed with Single- or Dual-Rank DIMMs, the QR DIMM needs to be in the slot with the white ejection tabs (the first DIMM slot in each channel). There is no requirement for the order of SR and DR DIMMs. * Nehalem EX Architecture will support a maximum memory speed of 1066MHz. * The processor’s maximum QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) speed will determine the memory performance (1066MHz, 978MHz, or 800MHz). Memory speed remains locked regardless of DIMM population. There is no speed change when populating increasing numbers of DIMMs. * More info on memory guidelines can be found here: http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/poweredge-server-11gen-whitepaper-en.pdf |
