| Configuration Notes | : | * Nehalem EX Architecture will support a maximum memory speed of 1066MHz. * PC3L DIMMs are only supported with Xeon E7 processors and require Memory Risers with Roman numeral “II”. For 16GB DIMM selection, only Quad-Rank type DIMMs are supported on Xeon 7500 series CPUs. * Xeon E7 series processors are required to support high density quad-rank 32GB modules. * Mixed DIMM capacity is supported however,the recommendation is to populate memory controllers equally and always pair DIMMs identically. * The processor’s maximum QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) speed will determine the memory performance (1066MHz, 978MHz, or 800MHz). Memory speed remains locked regardless of DIMM population. There is no speed change when populating increasing numbers of DIMMs. * DIMMs A1-A8 are assigned to CPU 1, DIMMs B1-B8 are assigned to CPU 2, DIMMs C1-C8 are CPU 3, DIMMs D1-D8 are CPU 4. For configurations with two processors, DIMMs A1-A8 and DIMMs C1-C8 are assigned to CPU 1 while DIMMs B1-B8 and D1-D8 are assigned to CPU 2. Two processor configurations allow 16 DIMMs per processor using Dell’s FlexMem Bridge to enable additional DIMM sockets. * PC3L DIMMs are only supported with Xeon E7 processors and require Memory Risers with Roman numeral “II”.
